Building a New Business Development Website
for First Bankcard

First Bankcard is the credit card-issuing division of First National Bank of Omaha, a bank that’s been a presence in communities across the Midwest for 160 years. However, prior to my involvement, the First Bankcard website wasn’t up to the quality one would expect from a Top 15-ranked card issuer in the U.S. Originally built to explain product offerings and portray First Bankcard in a positive light, the website was difficult-to-use and became more of an impediment than a sales tool. Furthermore, it was never updated or supported.

A Whole New Look

My team helped First Bankcard put together new partner / business development strategies for some time, but it was clear the outdated website was affecting results. This posed an opportunity to not only modernize and rebrand, but also to develop a serious resource that could help court leads and drive conversions. First Bankcard asked me to create a prototype of my envisioned partner website.

A Collaborative Effort

My team gathered input from various departments and functions throughout the bank, from the C-suite to brand strategy and public relations. I synthesized these learnings to address a diverse audience of prospects, existing partners, employees and investors.

I sought out to accomplish several things with the new website. First and foremost, the website needed to be an educational tool to generate leads. Supporting this function, press releases and case studies would stimulate audience engagement and establish the bank as a thought leader in the credit card space. Finally, the branding, logos and other design elements would be brought into alignment with the rest of First National Bank.

The Unveiling

My team was successful in accomplishing the goals I set out to achieve with the new partners.firstbankcard.com. It’s intuitively designed and user-friendly, with content that establishes First Bankcard as a great partner for any company or brand who might want to adopt a co-branded, private-label, affinity, or agent bank credit card. Most importantly, it reestablishes First Bankcard’s credibility in the credit card-issuing arena.

We might know the same people.
